The Ghana Army has a hierarchical structure of ranks. The highest officer rank is the General, followed by the Lieutenant General, Major General, Brigadier General, Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, Major, Captain, Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, Warrant Officer Class I, Warrant Officer Class II, Staff Sergeant, Sergeant, Corporal, Lance Corporal and Private respectively.
Recruitment into the Ghana Army is open to both men and women, and candidates must pass a rigorous selection process that includes physical and medical exams, aptitude tests, and interviews. After recruitment, soldiers begin their military training, which lasts for several months, to learn skills such as marksmanship, physical fitness, tactical planning, and leadership.
Promotion within the army is based on a combination of factors, including performance, experience, and education. A higher rank denotes greater responsibilities and higher pay, as well as increased opportunities for career advancement. The Ghana Army is committed to ensuring that its members receive the best possible training and support throughout their military careers.
